I am cruel to myself. You see, a few friends and I banned together for a year long spending-limit/savings goal, setting a limit for all personal shopping expenses for the year in an effort to beef up our savings accounts. Thankfully we agreed that travel is not included as I already have my tickets to visit family in LA in a few weeks. However, here I am with my latest Stitch Fix, wishing I remembered to reduce the frequency of their arrival! You can have fixes sent to you at various frequencies and I have been sticking with every other month because it worked better with my budget, but I think I am going to reduce to every 3 months. For more details on Stitch Fix and how it works, check out my post from December 2014.
Since the fix is here in my arms, I figured I may as well let myself take away one item since I can apply the $20 styling fee towards anything I keep. Otherwise, I’d have to kiss it goodbye and mark it off from my total allowed for the year – no bueno. So let’s see which piece is the winner shall we?
1. Skies are Blue Verona Dress / S / $68: I had pinned several plaid shirt dresses so my stylist, Eliza, was not wrong to put one in this month’s fix. I’ve been wanting a long sleeve, colder weather dress and this one was incredibly soft and comfortable. Unfortunately I felt like I was fulfilling a lumberjack fantasy while wearing it, or worse that it looked like a night gown. I just don’t think red plaid is my thing. Cooler colors work better for me when it comes to plaid. Verdict: RETURN.
2. Market & Spruce Fierro Elbow Patch Crew Neck Sweater / XS / $58: I kind of dig the elbow patch trend that is coming back right now and was glad to see it in the mix. While not thick enough to be a sweater, it was slightly thicker than a t-shirt. Eliza did suggest that it would look good paired with the vest I kept from my #11 fix and she was right! I did request more long sleeve shirts and she listened! Maybe?
3. Papermoon Marisol Mixed Material 3/4 Sleeve Knit Top / XS / $48: I have a thing for mixed material items it seems as I enjoyed this top. Although it also wasn’t thick enough to be considered a sweater but was slightly thicker than your average t-shirt which was good because the material in the back was thinner and it would have been weird if the front fabric was thick. And it looked really cute with the jacket included in this fix as well, another suggestion by Eliza. Maybe?
4. Market & Spruce Chaplin Hooded Anorak Cargo Jacket / XS / $88: Even though I already have a spring-time short olive cargo jacket, and the Market & Spruce hooded jacket vest (seen with piece #2 from fix #11), I have to admit I wouldn’t mind having a longer olive hooded anorak in my coat closet and this one fit the bill. But keeping my spending limits in mind, I just don’t think I can justify that desire into a need at that price. Time to dig through stores like Marshalls/TJ Maxx. Verdict: RETURN.
5. Urban Expressions Elisha Zipper Accent Structured Satchel / $58: I had to laugh when I saw that there was a satchel this month, because I just received a purse for Christmas that I am actually returning because even though it’s pretty, I already have a collection of purses that tend to collect dust and I have been trying to purge. Of course this one happens to be the perfect style for traveling with lots of exterior and interior pockets which I love, and a longer strap included. And I adore the sipper details. While I do own a good travel bag already, it has seen many years of love and a few countries so it’s tempting to consider this one as a replacement. Maybe?
So which piece do you think is worthy of finding a place in my wardrobe?
The elbow patch sweater? The black mixed media top? Or the satchel?

Oh my word, I would definitely keep the yellow bag. I have the same one in green and now I’m dying to get my hands on your yellow one. Great fix! I host a Stitch Fix linkup on my blog on the first of each month. You might want to link this up to January’s post and keep your eyes open for the February link up!
I really wanted to keep that bag but I just couldn’t afford keeping everything that I wanted :-(.
Love the dress & purse
My choice to keep is the black mixed media top. The elbow patch sweater is okay if you like it better. The bag does not look at all practical to me, probably mostly because of the handles (I think they’d be in the way when using the long strap).
With this comment I’m signing off until May.
Thanks for your vote! I will miss your comments and I hope you have a great trip!
Elbow patch shirt, definitely. The bag must go, it looks like a bowling ball bag!!! (sorry)
Haha I kind of liked that it looks like a bowling bag, but I need it less than a new shirt so doesn’t matter I guess.
lol I like the plaid dress! :P
But of the ones you listed…I think maybe the marisol top? The elbow patch shirt is a close 2nd though!!
I like plaid normally, I just don’t like red plaid on myself at least.
I think you should keep the elbow patch shirt. Definitely looks the best! I say send the rest back :)
Thanks Katie! I appreciate the helpful input.
