Stitch Fix

It’s Stitch Fix time again! I know I said I signed up for fixes every other month and I already had a fix in August but I had to switch around my months because I will be moving in December and don’t want it lost in transit! So September/November/etc it is! For more details on Stitch Fix and how it works, check out my post from December 2014.

This month I actually had a few requests: emerald green skinny jeans, olive army vest, sweater, and maybe a floral or flannel top. Just to see if I could pull them off. Let’s see how it went…

P.S. I didn’t have my designated paparazzi this time so pardon my subpar photos of my outfits. I did my best with what I had!

Side note: The necklace I am wearing is from Rocksbox. If you are interested in a similar program with strictly accessories, you need to check it out! I got a free month and am now hooked. For your own free month (no strings attached for real) use code: ERINBFF367.

September 2015 Stitch Fix 2-3

1. Market & Spruce Jahana Cargo Vest / XS / $68: Ask and you shall receive! I have been pondering whether I could pull off an army vest since last fall and I decided to finally take the plunge and I’m really glad I did! I particularly enjoyed that the hood could be zipped away into the collar. I look forward to wearing this with many things, especially outfits that I pinned long ago and can now finally execute! This one was a no brainer. KEEP.

2. Sweet Rain Ensenada V-Neck Blouse / XS / $48: When I first saw this print my first thought was “nope”. Then I tried it on and thought “maybe”. I do like the sheerness of it for transitioning from summer to fall but after trying it on with other pieces included in my fix (since Sami put together this mix and match box for me!), I slowly reverted back to nope. It’s just not my style. Maybe I would enjoy it if it were a more abstract or larger floral print? RETURN.

3. Level 99 Giovanni Straight Leg Jean / 4 / $98: As you may have noticed, unfortunately they did not have any emerald green skinny jeans in stock. Sad day. Normally I don’t request pants because I have plenty and also happen to have a decent collection of colored denim as well. Yea you guess right, I already have a pair very similar to this! Which is why I specifically asked for a certain color but I digress. Even if I didn’t already own a pair of skinnies in this color I don’t think I would have kept them due to the straight leg. While I don’t dislike the straight leg style in regular denim, I tend to prefer my colors denim to be skinny jeans. On the plus side she did give me a style idea pairing my pair with a striped tshirt and the vest. But as for these…RETURN.

4. Hailey 23 Mckenzie Printed Pencil Skirt / S / $38: This skirt is so comfortable! Again featuring the mix-and-match theme paired with the blouse as seen above, in which scenario I was okay with how the top looked but overall it was a no go. But back to this skirt. The fabric is great, side slit was a nice detail, and I loved that there was extra lining but at the same time that very lining did have a tendency to bunch up a bit. I may have to wear it around the house a little longer to decide for sure. What do you think? MAYBE.

September 2015 Stitch Fix 10-11

5. Dahlya Poppa Open Cardigan / XS / $58: Alright folks I think I need an intervention because I must own too much clothing and maybe shouldn’t be dipping into Stitch Fix. Why? Because I while I am completely in love with this cardigan, I own one very similar already!! Down to the color/fabric, draping front and pockets. Ahhhh why does this keep happening? The biggest difference between mine and this one is that this one has contrasting white sleeves while mine stay the same fabric/color. Sami, if I didn’t have one already I would’ve kept this in a heart beat. It’s so stinking soft and comfortable, but at the same time so is mine. I hate to return it but I must. RETURN.

What do you think? Other than the fact that I have too many similar clothes already I enjoyed this fix overall and am excited to wear that vest ASAP. But should I keep the skirt?

Erin, I wish i had the excuse of being a soccer player. I was just born that way, never done anything athletic (until the last 3 years when I started climbing rocks at our local state park). Being a soccer player is a wonderful thing (my husband is a referee and his younger son is a player and coach). Wish I could play soccer.

Granted I am sure I am built that way too, I just happen to have muscular legs which emphasize it more! And way to go on the rock climbing! I have a bunch of friends that have gotten into that as well over the past few years. I’ve only tried it a couple times.

You are built like I am, with the thighs that stick out in front. And I have never been comfortable in straight skirts like that. Maybe if it were a slightly looser style it would work better. I thought it was interesting that Kayle described the blouse as middle aged. I’m WAY beyond middle age and I wouldn’t wear it! :-) I think the vest is the best piece you got in this fix, definitely a keeper.

Haha yea that shirt is just a no go. As for my thighs, that’s what I get for being a soccer playing growing up and now squating heavy weight at the gym. I guess I shouldn’t complain, I have a friend has been trying to years to build up muscle in her legs and envies mine. Meanwhile I wouldn’t mind having slimmer thighs like her sometimes. The grass is always greener, right?

lol! Ugh as usual I’m so jealous of stitch fix but I feel like I can’t do it-Michael would kill me :P

Love the army vest! and yeah I agree the floral print is just kind of…like…middle aged looking? The skirt is ok but I don’t know, I feel like you can do better. Hopefully next time you can get some emerald jeans!

Yea, the skirt is comfortable but I suppose it doesn’t blow me away. And trust me, if I kept more than 1-2 pieces from each fix I doubt I could afford it either. Might be a good thing that they don’t even send me 5 wins haha.
