When you make your seasonings blends at home, you can ensure the ingredients are fresh! Try this homemade taco seasoning for your next taco night.
I’ve always felt that the taco seasoning packets you can purchase at the grocery store were just a tad bit too salty. Then one day I found a recipe to make it myself, and I opted to reduce the salt. I’ve never looked back; it’s been years since I have used the packaged stuff! This recipe is what I use for my stock.

[…] As for this particular recipe, you can buy pre-made fajita seasoning and chimichurri sauce which would narrow the list to 8: seasoning, sauce, bell peppers (yes there are 4 of them), red onion, pasta, chicken, lime, and olive oil. But it’s so easy to make your own fajita seasoning from spices you already have in your arsenal (you can also make your own taco seasoning). […]
Homemade spice mixes are the best. They not only taste better, they are lower in sodium and you know exactly what’s in them!
I have lots of jars of homemade seasonings but not taco! Definitely need to fix that.
I keep a jar of similar homemade taco seasoning in my cabinet at all times! It’s great to add flavor to just about anything!
You have totally inspired me to make my own taco seasoning. As much as we use it, it’s ridiculous that I don’t!
Hooray! Enjoy never buying it again ;-)
It’s so smart to make your own! I always thing the little packages at the store are way too salty!
Oh yea I love being able to reduce the salt!
I first started making my own after finding a recipe in Secret Recipe Club. Your photos of the jar of seasoning and the colorful spices are gorgeous.
