I`ll be out of town for the September Cookbook Club covering "Easy Does It" by Christina Flynn, so I decided to cook recipes from it on my own all month long.

I have to admit, when I first flipped through I wasn`t overly excited by the recipes but once I started making a few they were all so good. Normally I dislike recipes that require you to make other recipes/sauces but I appreciated that these secondary recipe ingredients were used in several others. The red pepper butter is going to be a staple in our kitchen from now on because the carrots and pasta that use it were our favorites. I`ve already made the pasta again before we used up the red pepper butter.

The only recipe I tried that didn`t pan out was the savory Dutch baby. It tastes good but didn`t get the iconic bowled edges. My only other comment is that I found it strange that many dry ingredients were measured in liquid ounces.

Making basil oil.

Dutch baby.

Cheesy red pepper pasta.

Polenta pizza.

Radicchio and plum salad.

Red pepper soup with limey yogurt and basil oil.

Feta custard toast.

Beer cheese.

Green pasta with lemon and pecorino.

Butter bean spread with green crunch sauce.

You can eat buckeyes any time of day when they are made of oats. Not that I am going to stop you from eating the classic version for breakfast, these are just in case you think about these things. I am here for you.

Is it a scone or a biscuit? While scones are usually sweeter and biscuits more savory, technically these are savory scones as the dough was not laminated but that won`t stop these caramelized onion and herbs scones from stealing hearts.
