At one point, my wife and I had 5 empties on the table and we did move on without any catastrophes. An early 60’s 1st time tourist to the area sat behind me and I felt a tap on my shoulder. She informed me this was her first trip to New Orleans and besides a Hurricane, she didn’t know what to order. I encouraged her to go up to the nice bartender and said, “Just go tell that handsome dude you’d like a Purple Drank.” She raised her eyebrow and asked, “Purple Drank, huh?” Yep. And I told her to order only one and see how she’s feeling about 10 minutes after she finishes it before deciding on a 2nd one. Needless to say, she got one and she was on #2, giggling and grinning ear to ear when we departed. She thanked me, I told her to be safe and thus, her love of the Voodoo Daquiri was born.
