For this recipe I used a 2.5 quart slow cooker. For a 6 quart you will likely have to reduce the cook time. With my larger 5 quart slow cooker, it typically takes half the time. A general rule of thumb is to fill your slow cooker more than halfway in order to prevent overcooking. This is why I purchased a smaller crock pot for smaller volume recipes such as this.
