In reply to Hope Cox. I did not think it was soupy, it looked just like the picture I posted haha. I have never made oatmeal in the microwave but I imagine since it has a shorter cook time it would evaporate less liquid than on the stove top.

Hey Erin,
This oatmeal recipe sounds lovely! I love oatmeal when it’s cold outside :) Your recipe also sounds more filling than the one I usually make: Oatmeal with peanut butter and/or flaxseed and/or raisins.

I noticed in your oatmeal recipe that both 1 cup of water AND 1 cup of apple cider are added to 1 cup of oatmeal. Does this make it soup-y? Usually when I make oatmeal in the microwave (from whole oats), I use 1/2 cup of oatmeal to 1/4-1/2 cup of milk. I don’t like my oatmeal soupy but I do like it moist. I was just wondering what your recipe’s texture was like?

Im trying to convince the BF to let us go back to ‘old’ phones without the internet just because we don’t need to spend that kind of money. :(
But yeay for cookbooks! And oatmeal. Love it.

The first year I was a grad student I didn’t feel like paying for internet either. My mom insisted on paying for it because she thought I needed it and so she could e-mail me all the time :) Anyways… I should really cook more from my cookbooks too. Your oatmeal looks so good and perfect for fall!

I’m trying harder to use my cookbooks more often too. There are a couple I use over and over, but some are so neglected. Looks like this oatmeal was a great find for you!
