Cookie Dough Oreo Cake

By now I am sure all of you are aware of one of the newest additions to the Oreo lineup, cookie dough. Personally I think that homemade versions such as Lindsay’s (Love & Olive Oil) and Tessa’s peanut butter ones (Handle the Heat) would win hands down. For the purposes of this cake however, homemade Oreos were not necessary. Chopped up Cookie Dough Oreos were mixed into the chocolate cake and used as decoration, but the real purpose of this creation was to make a cake that resembled a giant Cookie Dough Oreo covered in frosting. And if I do say so myself, I believe I succeeded.

Cookie Dough Oreo Cake 1

I made this cake for my step-mom’s birthday. It consists of super moist layers of chocolate cake with bits of Cookie Dough Oreo which are sandwiched around a layer of cookie dough filling, then swaddled in cookie dough frosting and topped with chocolate chips and more Cookie Dough Oreos. There’s some serious cookie-on-cookie action going on here. If you’re feeling really ballsy, serve it up with a scoop of Cookie Dough Oreo ice cream. I stuck with plain vanilla.

Birthday Explosion Mini Cheesecakes

I made these Cookie Dough-Funfetti-Oreo Mini Cheesecakes, aka Birthday Explosion Mini Cheesecakes, for my friend Maggie’s birthday yesterday. Originally she has requested cookie dough mini cheesecakes that she had seen on Pinterest, but when I asked her to show me the specific pin she started sending me all kinds of cookie dough cheesecake variations. One with Oreo, one with Funfetti, and many other variations of the same concept.

In stead of trying to decide which she would like best, I went ahead and put them all together into one spectacular dessert because the birthday girl should have it all! Hence the subsequent birthday explosion (similar to my birthday overload pancakes earlier this year). An Oreo cookie is used for the crust, topped with cookie dough which ends up being in the middle of a Funfetti cheesecake. But wait, there’s more! It’s then topped off with an Oreo whipped cream, miniature chocolate chip cookie, and of course SPRINKLES. The only thing it might be missing is peanut butter ;-).

Let’s talk about frozen bananas. They are great for smoothies and fun to dip in chocolate for a healthier frozen treat. But how about wrapping them in cookie dough after they are frozen and then dipped in chocolate? Maybe some chopped peanuts on the outside while we’re at it. Oh look, that’s what I did and here they are for your pleasure. Before eating, you will have to let them thaw for a few minutes because biting into a solid chunk of frozen banana isn’t the easiest task.

Cookie Dough White Chocolate Fondue

After all my phone complaining the other day, I found out that I’ve actually had a renewal available since the beginning of May. Why Verizon never alerted me to this I have no idea but now I have a dilemma – do I take the plunge and get my first smart phone or save the upgrade and get a replacement non-smart phone off ebay until I can truly afford a smart phone? I have a feeling the latter is going to win out, mostly because of money but also because I really enjoy not being dependent on my phone. Yes I am anti-smart phone and not ashamed of it, but unfortunately I will have to succumb eventually as owning one is becomes expected and likely necessary. But you know what is necessary today and doesn’t require making decisions? Egg-free, pop nonstop without the salmonella guilt, cookie dough.

Cookie Dough Fondue 2

And not just one, but three different kinds of cookie dough all paired up with a white chocolate fondue!  You see, I pulled out Lindsay’s The Cookie Dough Lover’s Cookbook to make just one kind of cookie dough (traditional chocolate chip) to pair with a regular chocolate fondue. Sounds delicious right? But totally expected, so I decided to change it up a bit and made a reverse chocolate chip cookie and then reversed the fondue too with white chocolate instead. Oh but I didn’t stop there. As you can see I ended up making three total cookie doughs: reverse chocolate chip, peanut butter and sugar cookie. The sugar cookie dough balls even got a little fancy outfit complete with sprinkles. Arn’t they pretty?

Cookie Dough Fondue 3

This cookie dough fondue platter was perfect for my friend Dan’s going away party – he is leaving Memphis and is off to medical school. Talk about a big decision! That definitely called for some cookie dough indulgence. With the ease of which these can be eaten it’s no surprise how fast they vanished. I asked people which dough was their favorite and it seemed everyone had their own and none were favored more than the others. Guess it’s a good thing I made all three because it provided something for everyone!

Speaking of decisions, Kita and Tracey know first hand how pathetic I am at making decisions, even when it comes to silly things like picking a dress to wear for the various wedding events I have coming up (commence stuffed animal throwing from Kita). Never fear, the decision remains although with treats like this I may not even need a dress, just put me in a moo moo. But anywho, what I’m trying to say is that when you are faced with tough decisions, eat a bunch of cookie dough dipped in chocolate instead. Go ahead, take a dip.
