Melt Away Callenge

by Erin

Have you ever heard of Melt? I actually have reviewed it in the past, testing it out in my favorite chocolate chip cookies and it totally passed! Melt is a healthier butter substitute and is made with “good” fats like flaxseed oil and virgin coconut oil. It spreads, melts and tastes like butter without the guilt.

For the Melt Away Challenge, I was sent some more of this product to try for a week as a replacement for other fats in my daily diet. So what did I make during the 7-day period that required butter? My week with Melt started out by making Nutella Swirled Banana Bread Snack Cakes. With ripe bananas, whole wheat flour and the addition of Melt how could you go wrong with these?

Next I tried it out in an entree – Corn Chowder with Zucchini and Orzo. I was very impressed that not only did it pass the baking test beautifully, it cooks up for a meal perfectly as well.

Finally, I went ahead and baked up another dessert because I just couldn’t resist. This time I made German Chocolate S’mores Gooey Cake Bars. There really is nothing healthy about these bars other than the Melt inside. Whenever I do this in other not-so-healthy treats it sometimes causes people to ask “why bother?”, and my response is “why not?” – every little bit helps!

By the end of the week it was really great to know that I had replaced all that butter with “good” fats through the use of the Melt buttery spread. I could not tell that I hadn’t used real butter and was reminded how much I liked it the first time I tried it! Once I am able to find this product in a store near me I am stocking up.

Also, stay tuned as I will be sharing the recipes I made with you in the next few days!

Disclosure: I was sent Melt for this challenge and was not compensated for this post. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

This sounds interesting. I am on a strict diet and it doesn’t help that I am a dessert blogger! I’m always looking for healthy alternatives, thanks for sharing! =)

I LOVE this stuff! I did the Melt Away Challenge a couple months ago too – fun! Not sure why they don’t want to use me for their ad campaign, and just sign me up for a lifetime supply! I would bake with it, and use it for everything! Great job with this, that soup looks incredible!

Oh my gosh I would love to have a never ending supply of this stuff. Especially since I cannot find it in stores near me.
