by Erin

When I first saw this adorable cookie spatula I had no idea that it was also for a good cause. This limited edition “be a good cookie” spatula was created by OXO to raise awareness for the charity, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, founded in 2007 and devoted to raising money for pediatric cancer research through local bake sales. To date this charity has raised 2.5 million dollars.

With the purchase of this cookie spatula, the proceeds will go directly to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. You can find this spatula are Bed Bath & Beyond and Amazon. But if you’d like to help out even more, here are a few more ways you can join the fight:

But today, one lucky reader can win this spatula! To enter leave a comment answering this question – What is the best cookie you’ve ever had? Want more entries? Find out how by using the Rafflecopter widget at the end of this post.

Now on to these cookies. I made them for another round of a Bake Swap hosted by Amy (Second City Randomness) and Jess (Stylish, Stealthy & Healthy). These treats were sent to Leanna of The Skinny Architect. When I found a box of DQ Oreo Blizzard creme Oreos I knew they would be the perfect thing to incorporate into this bake swap. I have been eyeing the different versions of Oreo stuffed cookies all over the foodie blogosphere and it seemed time to finally try it out for myself. I am so glad that I did! They Oreo becomes softer after being baked inside the cookie and it’s a wonderful surprise inside of an already delicious cookie. They may not be the most glamorous looking cookies, but they make up for it in every bite.

BLIZZARD OREO STUFFED CHOCOLATE COOKIES

Makes 21 large cookies

Ingredients:

2 sticks unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 Tbsp vanilla extract

1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1-1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup cocoa powder

1 package Blizzard Oreos

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat liner.
  2. In a stand or electric mixer, beat butter and sugars until well combined. Add eggs and vanilla, beating until well combined.
  3. Place flour, baking soda, and salt into a large bowl. Add to wet ingredients along with cocoa powder, and chocolate chips, slowly mixing until just combined. With a medium cookie scoop, take one scoop of cookie dough and place on top of an Oreo cookie.  Take another scoop of dough and place on bottom of Oreo.  Seal edges together by pressing and cupping in hand until Oreo is enclosed with dough.  Place onto a parchment or silpat lined baking sheet and bake cookies 9-13 minutes or until cookies are baked to your liking.  Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.  Serve with a tall glass of milk, enjoy!

To be utterly sappy, I’d have to go with my grandma’s chocolate chip cookies. Man, those things were so salty, but they just trigger so many wonderful memories. My uncle cooked a batch recently, and I might have teared up when I took that first bite. (And it was hilarious that the only people who would eat the cookies were the grandkids and her kids. Too salty for anyone else!)

OH SNAP – I WANT! OK – I think I’m yelling, but these cookies are awesome! The best cookie I’ve ever had are gingersnaps. Soft chewy gingersnaps. I can eat like 20 in one sitting… Then I can’t stand up; but it’s totally worth it.

The best cookie I’ve ever had is probably the chocolate chip cookie… it was the first cookie I ever had (that I could remember) so it has a special place in my heart/taste buds. :)

The best cookie I’ve ever had would have to be the giant cookies at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. I think it’s because it’s connected to great childhood memories of sharing those cookies and sipping hot cocoa while looking at the most beautiful Christmas lights I’ve ever seen!

This cookie looks amazing! I have seen those Oreo’s, but have fought off buying them!! The best cookie ever – that is next to impossible! I will have to go with my favorite chocolate chip cookie fresh out of the oven.

omgomgomg. WANT.
I fear if I make these I will be found on the floor in a cookie coma, but I think it will be worth the risk.
And the best cookie I ever had has to be the white chocolate peanut butter pretzel cookies I made over the summer. Salty + sweet = perfection.

Hmm. The best cookie I’ve EVER had?? That’s a tough question (predictably). I think I’ll have to go with the Levain Bakery dark chocolate and peanut butter cookie. That thing weighs a quarter of a pound and you’ve got to eat it with a fork…it’s a cookie meal. But so worth every calorie.
